Choose a manga publishing platform by your format and goal. GlobalComix and ComicFury suit page-based comics. MANGA Plus Creators takes submissions of eligible original manga. WEBTOON CANVAS fits vertical episodes, NamiComi offers paid chapters, and itch.io handles downloadable editions. Confirm eligibility, content policy and rights before you commit. Preview a complete chapter and keep your original files before launching.
Choose a platform by format and goal
A page-turning one-shot, a phone-scrolling episode and a downloadable volume each need a different kind of host.
| Your goal | Platform | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Page-based manga or a browsable chapter archive | GlobalComix, ComicFury | Digital comic publishing and customizable webcomic hosting |
| Original one-shot seeking manga award consideration | MANGA Plus Creators | Independent manga submissions and a Monthly Awards route |
| Vertical-scroll episodes | WEBTOON CANVAS | Built for serialized webcomic episodes |
| Monetized chapters | NamiComi | Paid-content options and a Creator Rewards program |
| Free or paid downloadable volume | itch.io | Digital file downloads with configurable pricing |
Set one primary goal first: public hosting, manga-specific consideration or paid distribution.
Rule out platforms that cannot take your work
MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA distributes licensed manga. Independent artists submit to MANGA Plus Creators by SHUEISHA instead.
WEBTOON also distinguishes its open CANVAS publishing service from professionally contracted WEBTOON ORIGINALS.
Look at four things:
- Submission access. Confirm the platform accepts original work and note its registration or account requirements.
- Content and language. Read the restrictions on your manga's subject matter, language and audience.
- Account and payment eligibility. Each paid program and payment method has its own entry rules.
- Existing obligations. If you have another publishing agreement, its terms on reuse of the work apply.
Match your format to the platform
Manga pages, vertical episodes and downloadable books hold similar artwork yet give readers different experiences.
Page-based manga uses panel groupings, a chosen reading direction and page turns. Vertical-scroll comics use the distance between panels to control timing and surprise. A downloadable book preserves a complete page layout inside a single file.
GlobalComix accepts JPG, PNG, PDF and ZIP/CBZ submissions. MANGA Plus Creators supports horizontal and vertical reading. WEBTOON CANVAS suits episodic comics composed for vertical reading.
A reveal that lands on a page turn works because readers uncover it when they advance. A scrolling version needs a different arrangement of panels and empty space to create a similar pause. Adapting finished pages takes work, so weigh the effort before you commit to a second reading format.
Files follow the same logic. Your drawing document's dimensions and resolution can differ from the images a host accepts, and exporting or platform processing changes the final display. No single canvas size fits every platform.
Classify the manuscript as page-based, vertical-scroll or downloadable, then match it to the formats each platform supports.
Getting readers after you publish
Publishing puts your manga online. Readers take more work, and a platform's discovery features give no guarantee that your title shows up in recommendations.
A WEBTOON CANVAS creator on promotion:
I’ve been promoting it on Reddit, Discord, Instagram, and TikTok, even the official Webtoon Canvas account has commented on my posts. Still, I haven't been able to gain subscribers in proportion to the effort I've put in. I haven't even hit 100 subscribers yet.
But what’s really getting me down is that my webtoon seems invisible, it doesn't show up in recommendations anywhere. I just don't know what to do.
Other creators report sharply different results on the same platforms. One reported nearly 50,000 ComicFury page reads over about a year and nearly 50,000 GlobalComix page reads over four years. Another identified GlobalComix as their strongest channel and reported roughly 8,000 page reads there. These are single-creator figures over different periods, so they don't rank the platforms.
Record page reads, subscribers, comments and returning readers with dates, and note each host's definition of a read. Compare trends within one platform; totals from different services over unequal periods tell you little.
Creator rights and money are two decisions
You can keep ownership of your original artwork while giving a publisher permission to host or distribute it. Optional monetization agreements add restrictions.
WEBTOON CANVAS describes ordinary creator publishing as nonexclusive. NamiComi also offers a nonexclusive baseline publishing license, while its Creator Rewards arrangement imposes additional monetization conditions. GlobalComix describes creators retaining their rights under its ordinary publishing arrangement.
Every payment program answers three questions: how income is generated, who qualifies to participate, and when earned funds become payable.
| Service or program | How money is generated | Requirement or cut |
|---|---|---|
| WEBTOON ad sharing | Advertising revenue | 1,000 subscribers and 40,000 global monthly page views for eligibility; participating creators receive 50% of qualifying ad revenue |
| WEBTOON Super Likes | Reader-supported feature | 500 total likes for eligibility |
| WEBTOON PayPal payout | Withdrawal of eligible earnings | $25 minimum effective January 6, 2026 |
| NamiComi standard monetization | Monetized digital content | 85% of net revenue to the rights holder; 15% to the service |
| NamiComi Creator Rewards | Creator-rewards program | Standard thresholds of 1,000 followers and 40,000 monthly page views, plus activity and monetization conditions |
| GlobalComix | Subscription allocation, paid releases or PDFs, and donations | $30 payout threshold and 14-day pending-income period; revenue shares depend on the arrangement |
| itch.io | Free or paid digital downloads | $0 minimum price allowed; adjustable marketplace share and payment-processing costs |
WEBTOON's creator monetization guidance covers ad sharing and Super Likes as two programs. A subscriber or view threshold sets eligibility for the program, and earnings depend on paid activity.
NamiComi has one exception to know before you compare thresholds. Founding Creators have a Creator Rewards threshold of 100 followers and 4,000 monthly page views. Newly registered creators get the standard threshold. Its Creator Rewards Policy lists the content, activity and NamiComi-exclusive monetization conditions.
NamiComi's 85% applies to net revenue, after deductions.
GlobalComix describes subscription revenue sharing, PDF purchases and donations as three earning routes. Its published FAQ puts the platform share at roughly 25% to 35% for subscription revenue arrangements, and your actual allocation and payment conditions depend on your agreement.
For a finished volume on itch.io, you set the initial price, including a free download. Marketplace share and payment processing affect what you receive.
Before you join a paid program, read the agreement for content ownership, hosting exclusivity, monetization exclusivity, payout method and withdrawal minimum.
MANGA Plus Creators offers a manga-specific submission route
MANGA Plus Creators suits an independent artist with an original one-shot or the start of a serial who is interested in its Monthly Awards.
The service accepts manga in English or Spanish. Its submission guidance sets a maximum of 100 pages per submission and a 5 MB limit for each JPG or PNG file.
Monthly Awards eligibility has its own rules. The program covers one-shots and the first three episodes of a serialized manga, with restrictions on previous commercial releases.
Award programs and MANGA Plus's licensed reading catalog have their own entry rules, which a title on the creator service still has to meet.
The MANGA Plus Creators FAQ covers ordinary submission conditions. For an award entry, compare the award rules with your work's publication history.
Content rules decide whether your manga stays visible
WEBTOON CANVAS applies publishing restrictions and retains moderation powers over uploaded work. ComicFury also regulates adult-content categories.
Generative-AI artwork adds another filter. ComicFury's published rules prohibit webcomics whose art was made partly or entirely using generative AI. GlobalComix's March 2026 AI policy excludes comics whose visuals are fully generated through prompts. It permits AI-assisted work that involves human artistry, appropriate rights and disclosure, with monetization subject to the policy's conditions and platform review.
Moderation also applies to work that already has readers. One MANGA Plus Creators user describes it:
Later that night, I received an email saying that my manga was being reviewed for a second time. Eventually, it was made private.
I checked the rules and guidelines on the MANGA Plus Creators website myself, including the rules related to prohibited content and activities, and I couldn't find anything in my manga that I believe violates them. They said that I was spamming my views (or that somebody else was doing it), and that I am manipulating the rating system, even if I was, they didn't say which page specifically.
I sent three emails and received absolutely no response. That's the part that really bothers me.
A hosted entry becomes unavailable during a moderation dispute, and the engagement attached to that page goes with it.
Tapas has announced its shutdown
Tapas announced an end-of-service date of March 31, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. New Ink purchases stopped on October 1, 2026.
That rules Tapas out as a new long-term primary platform. Creators already there have to decide how and when to move.
One creator's reaction to the closure:
I wasted so much of my time putting effort into that platform. I stopped posting before I even knew about this. Unless you somehow have a big following on there I wouldn’t give it any more of your time. I stopped posting because they were to strict with what dimensions you put things in.
Tapas's official shutdown FAQ says creators may continue publishing during the wind-down period. If you signed an exclusive deal, read its terms before you move.
Pick a permitted new platform for future readers. Subscribers and platform engagement do not transfer automatically.
Cross-posting adds publishing work
A second platform gives readers another place to find you and cuts your dependence on one host, if your agreements allow it. It also adds upkeep: two sets of files, two chapter orders, two sets of content rules. Start with one platform. Add a second only for a clear reason, test it over a consistent period, and track the preparation time and release effort.
Three things to settle before releasing your first chapter
A service can look ideal in a comparison chart until the opening episode lands in the wrong position or a file looks different after upload.
A WEBTOON CANVAS creator asked about reordering:
I posted the character sheets as a first chapter, intending them to be a kind of signpost. I planned to move them as second chapter after posting my true first episode. However, I can't find any option to reorder the episodes now. Is this possible? Am I missing something? Do I really have to delete the first chapter and lose all the comments and hearts?
In the replies, another user suggested changing the contents of existing installments and relabeling them to reach the intended order. The original poster said they would try it.
- Reading direction and episode order. Confirm where the actual story begins, how character sheets or a prologue appear, and which way readers move through the pages. MANGA Plus Creators requires deletion and reposting to change reading direction after publication, and the engagement is lost.
- Final-file appearance. Use the draft or preview function to inspect the image sequence on desktop and mobile. Look at balloon legibility, panel transitions and image clarity. One WEBTOON CANVAS creator reported softer-looking uploaded lines at normal browser zoom and a sharper appearance at 80% zoom.
- Independent copies and continuity. Keep your original artwork, exported chapter files, titles, credits and intended episode order outside the publishing service. Maintain a page you control for updated links if you change hosts.
Use a private preview to test the reading experience without exposing an unfinished release. Some contests and paid programs set their own rules on preliminary publication.
Choose the platform that fits how readers should experience your manga and what you want from publishing it. If its eligibility rules, contract terms or announced closure rule it out, pick another compatible host.
